Export declaration process

CERS / Canadian Export Reporting System

Dear customers,

As you may already be aware, the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA) has made changes to the Export Declaration process. An Export Declaration is required for all shipments with a value equal or above $2000.00 cad being Exported from Canada to all other countries, except the Unites States. Most of us have referred to this declaration as a B13.

There are 2 dates to remember:

As of August 10th, 2020, exporters will no longer be permitted to present a manual Export Declaration. You are required to register with the CERS (Canadian Export Reporting System) which is now a web-based portal for you to prepare your declarations.

Those of you that were preparing your declarations via the CAED system have received notification from CBSA and are surely already registered. However, those that are not, will need to do so before September 30th, 2020.

What should you do if you are not registered?

You have 2 options:

  1. Register as soon as you can by following the instructions and options on the following link: cbsa-asfc.gc.ca
  2. Let us help. If it is easier to let us handle the declarations for you, we can. However, we would be required to register with CERS as your service provider and will require some information from you to do so. There will be a fee for every declaration we will submit on your behalf. This will also require that when shipping values above $2000.00 CAD, that your commercial invoices have complete product information, including the country of origin of the product(s) as well as the associated HS codes.
